"Nowhere else in the world you will find people, local and foreigners alike, living together in such harmony as here, in Mithymna".

The inhabitants of Mithymna have a long standing tradition in hospitality and tourism infrastructure. They have developed a deep respect for each and every visitor of their town,  Greek or foreign, and above all for the environment they live in. These virtues render Mithymna as a model town in the tourism sector, an example to the wider area.

The main occupations of the local population are fishing, livestock farming and, during the summer months, employment in the tourist industry. Olive cultivation is another dominant economic activity. The wider area is planted with 27,600 olive trees. The wider region has its own Farmer's Cooperative and an olive press factory.
